The CDP is all land, with a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), according to the US Census Bureau.
Herricks is bounded to the north by Searingtown Road/Shelter Rock Road, to the east by Herricks Road, to the west by Marcus Avenue, and to the south by Hillside Avenue, which also forms the boundary between Herricks and Garden City Park.

In the CDP, there were 4,295 residents as of the 2010 census. 53.2% of the population was Asian, 0.1% was Pacific Islander, 0.5% was African American, 0.1% was Native American, 2.4% was from two or more races, and 52.6% of the population was White. 3.9% of people identified as Hispanic or Latino, regardless of race. Asian Indians make up 23.2% of the population, followed by Chinese (9.1%) and Filipinos (1.6%).
The CDP was home to 1,349 homes, 1,121 families, and 4,076 individuals as of the 2000 census. There were 7,284.4 people per square mile (2,812.5/km2) in the population. At an average density of 2,450.2 per square mile (946.0/km2), there were 1,371 dwelling units. 0.93% of the CDP’s population was from other races, 1.45% was from two or more races, 24.39% was Asian, 0.10% was Native American, 0.29% was African American, and 72.74% of the population was White. Latino or Hispanic, regardless of race, made up 4.17% of the population.
Of the 1,349 homes, 37.1% included children under the age of 18, 71.9% consisted of married couples living together, 8.9% included a female householder living alone, and 16.9% did not belong to a family. Individuals made up 14.9% of all households, and 10.0% of them had a single person 65 years of age or older. The average size of a family was 3.38, while the average size of a household was 3.02.
The population of the CDP was dispersed, with 6.8% being between the ages of 18 and 24, 25.4% being between the ages of 25 and 44, 25.2% being between the ages of 45 and 64, and 18.7% being 65 or older. It was 41 years old on average. There were 90.9 men for every 100 females. There were 88.1 males for every 100 girls over the age of 18.
In the CDP, the median income for a family was $84,451 and the typical income for a household was $78,343. The median income for men was $55,125, while the average for women was $40,658. In the CDP, the per capita income was $31,518. 4.5% of people and 2.4% of households, including 1.2% of those over 65 and 7.3% of people under the age of 18, lived in poverty.
The hamlet of Herricks Pond Park is home to a passive park that is maintained by the County of Nassau.

School districts
Herricks is fully contained within the confines of the Herricks Union Free School District, and is therefore under its jurisdiction. As a result, students who live in Herricks and attend public schools attend schools run by the Herricks UFSD.

Because Herricks is inside the Shelter Rock Library District’s limits, it is covered by it. The hamlet is home to the Shelter Rock Public Library, which serves the district.
Transportation
Road
To the south, Hillside Avenue (New York State Route 25B) encloses the hamlet.
Denton Avenue, Herricks Road (CR 8), Old Courthouse Road, Searingtown Road (CR 101), and Shelter Rock Road (CR 8) are some of the other important routes that pass through Herricks.
Rail
Herricks is not crossed by any train lines. East Williston on the Oyster Bay Branch and New Hyde Park on the Main Line are the closest Long Island Rail Road stations to the hamlet.
Bus
The n22 follows Hillside Avenue to the south edge of the hamlet. Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) runs this bus route.
Utilities
Natural gas
Natural gas is supplied by National Grid USA to residences and commercial buildings in Herricks that have natural gas connections.
Power
Power is supplied to all Herricks residences and businesses by PSEG Long Island.
Sewage
The Nassau County Sewage District, which manages and treats the hamlet’s sanitary waste, is responsible for the sanitary sewers that run through the entirety of Herricks.
Water
The Garden City Park Water District, which serves the entire hamlet with water, includes Herricks in its bounds.
