Jamaica Hills Queens

Jamaica Hills is a modest, middle-class neighborhood in the Queens borough of New York City. The neighborhood is bordered to the north by Hillcrest, which is located at the Grand Central Parkway, to the east by Jamaica Estates, which is located at Homelawn Street, which is a continuation of Utopia Parkway, to the south by Jamaica, and to the west by Briarwood, which is located at Parsons Boulevard. The terminal moraine that stretches the entire length of Long Island serves as its center. Jamaica Hills was first settled by people who moved from areas experiencing ethnic transition, but after 1964, it began to diversify ethnically. There is a significant South Asian population as well as lesser groups from China, the Caribbean, and Central America in today’s highly diverse population. A large number of Greek immigrants also reside in the region as a result of the 1960s erection of a Greek Orthodox church.
